                                                                                  Recognizing NuVal® Moms

More and More, Moms Turning to NuVal Scores to Find Better Nutrition

Braintree, MA - They’re from all across the country, from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Plains to the Bay State. Some have one child, others just gave birth to triplets. Some were looking to lose weight, others just wanted to feel better and find more energy to help them through the day. But they all have one thing in common—they are all NuVal Moms.

As we get ready to celebrate moms across the country this Mother’s Day, we’d like to recognize our own NuVal Moms—mothers who use NuVal Scores as a tool to help guide their families to more nutritious meals.

Found in more than 1,600 supermarkets across the U.S., NuVal Scores rank tens of thousands of foods based on their overall nutrition on a scale of 1 to 100. The higher the NuVal Score, the more nutritious the food.

“One of the biggest challenges in raising children is getting them to eat the right foods,” said NuVal LLC Account Executive and “Mom Blogger” Melissa Schlenker, who writes about mom-related issues daily at abetterbagofgroceries.com. “With the NuVal System, these moms have learned that it is possible to shop for food like an expert and to know, at a glance, what foods are more nutritious for them and their families.”

Some NuVal Moms have used NuVal Scores, which are presented on participating store shelves, to lose weight; in one case, Sally Galvin from Olathe Kansas lost more than 100 pounds! Others have used it to help guide their children to better food decisions. Ultimately, all of them have adopted the NuVal System into their lives for one reason—to eat better.  They’ve come to appreciate how NuVal Scores give clear, simple guidance on what foods have better nutrition.

“(NuVal Scores) definitely helped me make better decisions for food choices for myself and now food choices for my family,” said Nancy Carvara, a recent mother of triplets from Swansea, Massachusetts.  “It also helped me expand the variety of foods I was eating.  Eating this way, in turn, made me make better choices.”

Most importantly, these women have used NuVal Scores as an opportunity to teach their children about good nutrition.

“My 4 year old son frequently asks me what ‘number’ or ‘rating’ his orange or broccoli gets,” said Sally Galvin. “He likes to ‘keep score’ and this has sparked a real interest in nutrition. “

Littleton, Colorado Mom Cheryl Levy agreed, noting that when shopping with her 10-year-old son, “now he looks at the score. We used to read labels together, but he’s a 10-year-old. He doesn’t know what the sodium level means. With NuVal, I can point to the score and say, ‘see?’ I can now tell him to find the best NuVal Score he can in (the product) he wants while I shop for other things.”

“I know (my kids) are still young but we want to set a foundation now for them to become healthier eaters,” said Nancy Carvara. “I hope I can continue to guide them down the path of enjoying healthier choices and hopefully NuVal helps me do that.”

NuVal LLC is always on the lookout for new “Moms of the Month.” Those who wish to be considered are asked to send their stories, along with photos, to info@nuval.com. Everyone who sends in a submission will receive a NuVal Moms t-shirt and will be entered in a raffle to win a $100 American Express gift card. Those chosen as a “NuVal Mom of the Month” will be featured on NuVal’s website and promotions.
